Experience in Solving Business Problems

Experience in banking (accounting, finance, mortgage secondary market, real estate owned), semiconductor capital equipment, facilities management, software, consumer packaged goods, personal electronics, food manufacturing, agriculture, commerical properties, golf property management, technology training, water distribution, education, school district and and local government operations. I have raised capital for startups, restarts, established businesses, and turn arounds. There is not much that I have not seen in business. I have been part of great successes and almost failures, new startups and tired companies. There have been exits (sale of the business), fundings (capital raising), acquistions, business growth, business declines, tax problems, employee theft, and cultural and morale problems. To founders, shareholders, management, these are Special Situations. That is where I come in. Together, we can get it done!
There are not many problems that cannot be solved. Perhaps you are visiting our website because you have not dealt with a particualr situation before, or you know exactly what you are dealing with but need someone else to take care of it. Quickly. Confidentially. That is where I come in. The nature of what I do means that I cannot disclose details that could be used to identify businsses that I have worked with. However, I can relate these Special Situations where I was able to come in and help. Always keep in mind how you would want me to discuss your business after fixing a Special Situation! I have been in C-level management positions of many companies, either as an employee or consultant, specifically to achieve desired outcomes by the CEO, the board of directors, and/or shareholders. Situation Example 1 Prior to my arriving, the entity had no credible management reports, convoluted financial reporting, employees stealing, significant underreporting to taxing authorities, abusive managers, and many other problems. A series of "Fat" temporary revenue streams hid the reality of losing money on its core business. Together with senior management, we were able to eliminate the thefts, shed abusive employees, become compliant with taxing authorities, reconfigured the financial reporting and implemented an ERP system that provided much needed financial information and bring significant corporate efficiences to the organization. Situation Example 2I was involved in an entity that was suffering from lack of sophisticated financial acumen. Certain revenue streams that everyone thought the entity was receiving, when in actuality it had not been for a very long time. In similar vein, a third party to the entity was not remitting funds that were due the one I was advising. This all got corrected, representing a nice windfall for the entity as well as new practices that guaranteed the ongoing revenues. Situation Example 3 A consumer packaged goods company had significant management team issues and absentee owners who placed too much trust in them. There were hidden bank accounts, significant non-business related expenditures, aggregious noncompliance with IRS and state reporting, and other issues that were transferring the real and inherant value from the owners to the management team. Actions we took led to the successful sale of the entity, allowing the owners to realize the significant value before it was too late.

How we work

01. Initial meeting
We meet and discuss your business from a practical point of view
02. Team formation
I come in and we start assessing the problems and develop potential solutions, and who in the entity can best help solve the problems in the priorities that you set.
03. Execution
We implement programs that include potentially new applications along with your employees that get the entity focused on building value.
04. Closure
We look to hand off the solutions to existing employees.

Philosophy

  • Be reliable. Once engaged, we will be in constant contact.
  • Prioritize what problems need to be addressed in what order.
  • Bad News First. Let's not dance around the subject, but identify what is wrong and get to solutioneering all that much quicker.
  • Take Things Off of Your To Do List. Let us focus on the critical problems so that you can focus on your customers.
  • Write it Down. Everyone benefits when facts and actions are memorialized.
  • Tactics - Laser Focused to Add Value - we don't just write plans, we help execute them.
  • I Understand It. I cannot help you invent anything, but I know what makes a business valauble to someone else.
  • Start Tough (When It Is Important). If you have a crisis and we can solve it immediately, we are not afraid to do so.
  • If It Is Not Working, End It.
